The commission heard an update from the MRV Bear Initiative that two BearSaver receptacles will be ordered and installed in priority locations in collaboration with partner organizations. Andy Phelan reported active outreach via Front Porch Forum (FPF) posts.
The commission noted that a Sarah Crockett speaker event this spring proved successful and discussed whether MRVBI should submit reports to Vermont Fish & Wildlife when residents find garbage strewn by bears. Andrea Henderson said MRVBI has no enforcement authority and that the best immediate action for residents is to submit a report to Vermont Fish & Wildlife as soon as possible; Andrea will raise the reporting question at the next BI meeting.
