The Mad River Valley Bear Initiative announced a National Poetry Month haiku challenge that launched March 24 and runs through April 30; submitted haiku will be displayed at valley libraries and businesses. MRVBI also plans to table at the Green Valley Rally on May 3 and to distribute informational materials at the Waitsfield Farmers Market.
The commission noted that bear educator and advocate Sarah Crockett will lead a public workshop titled 'Coexisting with Bears: Being Responsible Neighbors' on April 10. Commissioners reported additional outreach activities, including tabling at community events and distribution of newly ordered informational materials to residents and second‑home owners.
