The Langley City Council approved the first reading of an ordinance creating a Transportation Benefit District on Dec. 16, 2024. Councilmember Chris Carlson moved the motion, and Councilmember Harolynne Bobis seconded; the motion passed unanimously (Salerno absent).
Councilmember Carlson explained the reasoning behind creating the TBD. The minutes state that a public hearing on the TBD ordinance will be held at the Jan. 6, 2025 council meeting; no vote to adopt any TBD funding mechanism occurred at the Dec. 16 meeting. The agenda packet notes the TBD item (recorded at 01:10:38 in the recording), and the council also approved two special meetings on Jan. 13, 2025 to further consider Transportation Benefit District sales tax matters.
