Kyle Kuzma, battalion chief with the Orange County Fire Authority serving Villa Park, told the council that his unit responded to 58 dispatched calls since the last meeting, 30 of which were medical aid calls; the month included one fire and two hazardous‑condition calls. "Out of those 58, 30, were medical aid related," Kuzma said.
Kuzma said July 4 was a highlight and overall a safe holiday for Villa Park, but he emphasized beach safety for residents who may travel to the coast during hot weather: check surf reports, swim near lifeguards, never swim alone and learn how to escape rip currents by swimming parallel to shore.
Council members thanked Kuzma for the update and asked follow‑up questions about a small brush fire on Feather Hill, which Kuzma said was contained to ornamental vegetation and a few cypress trees with no extension beyond that area.
