Superintendent highlights Building & Trades invitation, internship and housing grant talks

Superintendent John Wyrick told the board Sept. 9 that the LCHS Building & Trades program has been invited to be a main session presenter at the SEK, Inc. Housing Committee Conference in Chanute on Nov. 12–13, 2024, which he called "a great event to share our success story." Wyrick also said he will meet with Kansas Works about a grant to fund student internships and plans to meet with Kylie Moore and the Planning Development Committee regarding a possible grant to build another home in Bartlett.
Wyrick added that he has been in talks with a local business about potential sponsorship or support for signage on new gym scoreboards and shot clocks; he told the board he will keep them posted on any commitments. These items were presented as part of the superintendent’s regular report and no board votes were required at the meeting.
