The Shaw Island School District Board unanimously approved the 2025–26 School Improvement Plan at its Nov. 18, 2025 meeting.
Superintendent Becky Bell described the plan as an accreditation requirement and said it aligns with the district's teacher goals to increase community outreach: engaging the public in school activities, soliciting input on methods of involvement, inviting community visitors to events, and sharing knowledge and skills. The plan will include a report on outcomes tied to those outreach efforts.
Director Jon Shannon moved to approve the School Improvement Plan; Director Shannon Klohr seconded the motion and the board carried it unanimously. The board plans to set a date at the December meeting for a January or February retreat to orient the new board member and focus on working together rather than sending directors to the WSSDA conference.
