After an executive session about the board‑director applicant, the Shaw Island School District Board held a public discussion and voted to schedule a public decision and vote on the applicant at a special meeting on Oct. 30. Directors Carol Criss, Jon Shannon and Shannon Klohr voted in favor of scheduling the decision; Director Shirley Lange voted against the motion.
Director Lange made a motion to postpone the decision until the next regular meeting and to reopen the application period so other candidates could apply, but that motion received no second and therefore was not considered. Superintendent Becky Bell clarified that the application period had already closed and would need to be reopened if the board wished to accept new applicants. Superintendent Bell said she would inform applicant Terri Mason that the decision will be made at the Oct. 30 meeting.
