Resident says culvert work washed out pollinator plot, asks town for fix

Matt Patrick told the Tinmouth Selectboard that drainage work tied to a recent culvert replacement has sent water across his field and washed out a pollinator plot he had prepared under a land-use program.
Patrick said the washed plot cost him roughly $500 in rototilling and seed and described the dug area as now filling and pouring water across the field. "I lost the field this year because of all the water that came through out of the culvert across that field," he said, asking whether the town could extend a ditch or otherwise alter the flow so the water reaches the woods instead of the center of his field. Board members acknowledged the problem, noted limitations about working on private property without landowner permission, and agreed that staff (Hope) would meet with Patrick to explore solutions.
Patrick said he would consider building a berm if necessary but asked the town to look into options first; staff and members said they will examine the site and advise what can be done consistent with rights-of-way and state requirements.
