Facilities staff seek approval for courthouse repairs, temporary HVAC and tree trimming ahead of festival

Chip Sand, who identified himself with building‑grounds responsibilities, told the board that courthouse boiler issues dating back to November 2025 had led to a suspected condensate return leak. Staff have a proposal of $14,500 to repair the leak or to contract for concrete fill and repair work; if additional pipe damage is found, work would be time and materials.

Sand also said a roof condenser failed and the county installed temporary mini cooling units for staff, with an estimated price of $17,849. He noted funds are available in the building‑grounds budget and that the county could transfer expenses between accounts to cover door work and cooling. On landscaping, he identified three trees needing trimming or possible removal on courthouse grounds to prevent storm damage before the Timber Bridge Festival and asked for board permission to proceed with assessments and work.

Supervisors discussed vendor training for new annex doors so staff would not have to attend evening meetings to unlock them; they agreed vendor training was acceptable. The board did not approve a large capital replacement at this meeting but authorized staff to pursue repairs and tree‑work estimates.
