Shaw Island board moves last day of school to June 11, 2027 and approves 2026–27 calendar

The Shaw Island School District Board of Directors unanimously approved the 2026–27 academic calendar at its regular meeting on March 17, 2026. Superintendent Becky Bell recommended holding the Winter Program on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2026, and making Friday, Dec. 18 the first day of winter break; to compensate, the last day of school will be Friday, June 11, 2027 (changed from June 10).
Director Teresa Mason moved to approve the calendar as presented and Director Jon Shannon seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Board materials state the change is intended to accommodate the Winter Program schedule without extending total instructional time.
