The committee voted to dispose of the current sheriff deputy eligibility list, enabling the sheriff’s office to initiate a new hiring process. The chair called for a motion and, after discussion about civil service procedures, the motion passed without recorded opposition.
The sheriff and committee members discussed civil service ordinance language (chapter 25) that will need updating to replace the term "chief deputy" with "under sheriff" and to potentially remove the committee’s role in dissolving the list in the future. The sheriff said the last person on the list had accepted a full-time job elsewhere and that there are currently no eligible candidates on the list.
