Neighbors tell Iowa City board the Kimball Road variance would harm character and create maintenance problems

Stile said building on the lot would require extensive, expensive retaining walls that she cannot afford for a 1,008-square-foot house. The staff report also noted maintenance challenges to 409 Kimball Road along the western lot line.
The neighbors' testimony that platting and survey details were incorrect factored into board members' concern about the public interest and maintenance impacts when weighing whether to grant the variance.
