Emergency Management program assistant position to be terminated after grant funding falls through

The Emergency Management representative informed the committee that the office’s program assistant position will be terminated at the end of the month for lack of state and federal funding and that the funding line has been removed from the 2027 budget. "The program assistant that we have in our office, her position is being terminated at the end of this month due to funding issues," the Emergency Management representative said.
Staff said they worked with Human Resources and an administrative committee to process the change and cautioned that reducing that role may slightly reduce grant eligibility or the amount of grant funds the department can administer next year. The department said it took a conservative approach in its revenue assumptions for 2027 given the uncertainty about 2026 grant paperwork and clawbacks.
