The Dunn County Judiciary & Law Committee reviewed a preliminary compilation of department budgets and a countywide prioritization exercise that the committee will forward to the executive committee and county board. County staff said the initial aggregation reduced a $1.9 million shortfall to about $1.7 million after prioritization and that executive identified salary and fringe, the capital improvement plan and placements as top priorities.
County staff walked the committee through a new budget presentation format showing general fund totals, departmental sub-totals and classifications for salary, non-salary operating expenses and shared IT costs. The county staff member summarized that department heads and the executive committee’s prioritization exercises largely aligned on major cost drivers and that further refinement will occur through August and September workshops. "So they identified essentially salary, fringe, the CIP, and placements as kinda their priority," staff said when describing the executive committee’s work.
