Instructional Program lead Katie Chavarria told the board that Camp Invention is scheduled for June 24–28 and that Mt. Pleasant will attend a week at Skamania. Chavarria said the ELA curriculum is being reviewed followed by science and social studies; math teachers will receive training from Anne Gallagher. Chavarria reported that a donor identified as Karen offered $18,000 to the Skamania School music program and requested an instrument list from music teacher Mrs. Caccavo (requested items include drum mats, reeds, trombones, clarinets and flutes).
Board members commented on the strength of the music program and expressed appreciation for student performances. Chavarria said she is working to involve neighboring districts (Stevenson-Carson and Washougal) and confirmed additional details about Camp Invention will be provided later.
