Board adopts revised Title I parent-engagement policy (Policy 4130)
Summary

The Skamania School District Board completed a second reading and adopted Policy 4130 (Title I, Part A Parent and Family Engagement) during its Nov. 20 meeting. Board member Angus Anderson raised concern that the policy wording suggested more than one school in the district; Principal Katie Chavarria provided clarifying explanation about the policy’s intent. Lisa Young requested an amendment to the Board of Directors Comments; the third sentence was revised to state that she “also shared the top ten legislative positions the Skamania School District would like WSSDA to focus on in the 2025 legislative session.”
Angus moved to adopt the revised Policy 4130; Martin “Rowdy” LaFevers seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board did not record further substantive edits beyond the clarifying language and the requested Board Comments amendment.
