The Labette County Unified School District (USD) 506 Board of Education elected Jessie Foister president for the 2024–2025 school year during its July 8 meeting at the Curran Administrative Office. The board recorded a 4–2 vote for Foister over Brian Harlow in the presidential ballot; Dr. Kolette Smith was later elected vice-president by a 6–0 vote.
Board business began with Justin Bebb moving to approve the printed agenda and add two items — a Crossland Construction interior bid and an executive session — a motion that carried 6–0. Dr. Kolette Smith moved the slate of officer appointments that included Cindy Dean for board clerk, Chris Kastler for deputy clerk and Jerica Wilson for treasurer; each was approved by the full voting membership.
