Weybridge planners review Protected Lands map; note limits on changing easement labels

At their July 9 meeting, the Weybridge Planning Commission examined the Protected Lands Map alongside the Draft Future Land Use map, focusing on how parcels in 'Current Use' and parcels with conservation easements are displayed. Commissioner Gale Hurd said she believed lands that are both in current use and under conservation easement should be separately identified on the Protected Lands Map; county planner Danelle Birong responded that certain map attributes have already been set and cannot be altered at this stage.
Minutes record a list of specific parcels and easement types in an informational appendix: a large rural conservation area off Quaker Village Road bordering New Haven (noted as a VLT easement), a point of land into Otter Creek from Water Street and Baker Court, a narrow strip east of Morgan Horse Farm Road bordering New Haven, and a rectangular parcel between Route 23/Weybridge Road and Sheep Farm Road (listed as a MALT easement). The Addison County Regional Planning Commission will do public outreach at farmers' markets beginning in August 2025 and will hold a countywide public hearing in 2026 as part of the Act 181 mapping process.
