Weybridge planning commission to seek $20,000 municipal grant to update Town Plan

The Weybridge Planning Commission on Sept. 9 agreed to pursue a municipal planning grant and to ask the Addison County Regional Planning Commission (ACRPC) to act as agent and consultant for a two-year revision of the Town Plan and parallel update of the zoning regulations.
Katie Raycroft-Meyer, Community Planner at ACRPC, presented a schedule for a two-year revision and estimated ACRPC’s direct assistance would cost about $18,000–$19,000. She recommended the town apply for $20,000 to cover unforeseen expenses; the commission agreed to that request. The minutes note that grants are announced Dec. 30 and the two-year grant period would begin Jan. 1, 2026.
As part of the application process, the commission must obtain a municipal resolution from the Weybridge Selectboard that commits a 10% match. The minutes record that the Selectboard would be asked to provide a $2,000 match and that the match need not be paid until the Town Plan is complete; if the project costs less than the award, the required match would be proportionally less.
The commission tasked members with reviewing the current 2019 Town Plan, with special attention to new State goals about identifying forest blocks and Weybridge’s additional housing targets, ahead of formal application and consultant work.
The minutes show the Planning Commission agreed to ask ACRPC to submit the application and to act as grant administrator and consultant if the grant is awarded.
