Resident urges La Pine to consider banning fireworks, suggests ballot measure

Christina Wayman, who gave her address as 52445 Railroad Street, used the public comment period to ask whether the city has discussed banning fireworks in La Pine or limiting sales when fire danger is high.
"I was just wondering if there are any talks on banning fireworks in the area," Wayman said, adding she understood the patriotic appeal of fireworks but worried about fire risk and suggested a ballot measure so the city could "voice their opinions." Assistant City Manager Ashley Ivins asked Wayman whether she had a utility account on file and requested she email her comments so staff would have a record.
The chair thanked Wayman for participating via Zoom; the council did not take action on the topic during the meeting and no follow-up vote or staff report was scheduled at the session's close.
