The Taylor City Council approved a three-year agreement with Oliphant Golf Management as the preferred vendor for golf course maintenance services for an amount not to exceed $3,852,210, funded through the golf fund.
City staff (addressed as "Grant") said the city had budgeted for the increase and attributed it to pandemic-era cost pressures: "We did budget for the increase...Our previous contract was written prior to COVID, and costs, obviously, on a lot of things went through the roof," Grant said. Council members noted the higher maintenance cost is concerning but were reassured staff had planning and mitigation strategies to keep the golf operation profitable under the new contract.
