Longtime MS Society rider thanks Upper Township, says local support enables $4.3M fundraising goal

Lloyd Humphrey, a longtime organizer for the MS Society ride, presented a plaque and thanked Upper Township at the July 24 meeting, saying the town’s support is critical to the event’s success.
"We return about 78 to 79¢ of every dollar that goes into providing service for the people that are suffering with MS," Humphrey (speaker 8) told the committee, noting the Delaware Valley serves about 18,000 people living with multiple sclerosis. Humphrey said the ride’s fundraising target this year is $4,300,000, with an aspiration to reach $4.5 million.
Humphrey, who said this will mark 40 consecutive years of participation for him and that he is 77, confirmed the ride dates as Feb. 26–27 and offered brochures and flyers for town distribution. He thanked township staff, first responders, and volunteers for logistical help and said organizers would share event materials via the township’s website and social media.
The committee accepted Humphrey’s remarks and plaque; no formal action or new funding was taken at the meeting.
