Upper Township hears beach replenishment update as local contractor begins crossovers

Upper Township Committee members were told at their July 24 meeting that the beach replenishment project at Strathmere is progressing smoothly and that a local contractor will begin constructing beach crossovers tomorrow.
"Pumping is going very smoothly at Strathmere," said Zach Palumbo (speaker 5), who briefed the committee on public works activity and upcoming projects. Palumbo said the local contractor, Waters Brothers, will start building a traffic crossover on Williams and will construct ADA-compliant public crossovers as the dredge moves north.
A committee member who flew over the work said the dredging footprint suggests this will be among the largest replenishments the town has seen. Officials encouraged residents to watch daily drone footage; Palumbo pointed listeners to a local Facebook account for regular video updates.
Palumbo also noted other public-works work under way, including drain and pipe replacements, and lighting repairs in Cobble Park. The committee did not take further action on the project during the meeting; public updates and site access information are available at Town Hall and on the township website.
