The Taylor City Council opened a public hearing to consider vacating a platted 60-foot public street adjacent to Lots 877–892 (south of Eureka Road) and later approved the vacation while retaining utility easements.
"My client is looking to vacate the right of way, which runs through land that they own," said Tim Volcho, representing Shottsen Property Group and speaking for CEC. Volcho told the council the applicant owns both sides of the platted street and seeks the vacation to enable commercial redevelopment and offered survey maps to clarify the site.
Council members and planning staff described the subject area as largely platted but unimproved and confirmed the city currently owns the property. Planning staff said vacating the public street would split ownership of the former right-of-way (half to each adjacent parcel), remove the city's maintenance obligation, and make the parcels more developable, though no development plans had yet been filed. The council voted to approve the vacation after the public hearing was closed.
