Revote on shared regional housing recommendation results in tie; CPC recommendation does not advance to warrant

The Community Preservation Committee reopened discussion on a previously recommended award for "Shared Regional Housing Services" after the town finance director requested a rounding adjustment to the dollar amount. Committee members asked whether applicants had unused previous balances and whether the award could be covered by existing program funds; members also discussed whether the committee should reconsider projects in light of a potential CPC surcharge cut.
After motion and second, the committee took a roll-call vote on the project at the revised amount ($8,551). The result was a tie/no majority and, as the chair explained, the revote was treated like a first-time vote; because it did not secure a majority the project, as voted in that session, will not be forwarded by the committee as a recommendation to the town warrant. Committee members noted the rounding was largely administrative and moot given the vote outcome.
Committee members asked staff to check whether applicants had other available funds (members referenced a $500,000 balance previously provided to the applicant). The group proceeded to leave an unrelated previously recommended application (Friends of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, $35,100) unchanged and moved on to discuss communications about the draft warrant articles.
