Jackson County officials announced that the C15 bridge on 362nd Avenue will have a planned closure starting Thursday, April 9, and that the county has posted variable message boards to alert motorists.
County Engineer Jaden Shekel said the county borrowed message boards from Dubuque County and placed them on the roadway to inform drivers that the closure will begin April 9. He noted the message boards and other notices should provide "plenty of notice" for regular users of Springbrook Highway, which he said carries about 700 vehicles a day.
Shekel said the county had a preconstruction meeting that week and asked staff to issue a road notification. Chair Don Swinker and other board members discussed attendance at related watershed meetings but did not change the announced closure date.
The closure is a short-term construction measure associated with the C15 bridge preconstruction and embankment work; the board's discussion did not include a formal vote on the closure itself.
