Committee approves digital sign upgrade for Animal Care & Control, PAWS to cover cost

County Administrator Jim Grafton told the Public Works & Facilities Committee that the Animal Care & Control facility’s stationary message board will be replaced with a digital sign to help promote adoptions and events. "The total cost for this work was $25,026.61," Grafton said, and the committee approved the purchase by voice vote.
Grafton said three bids were solicited: Riverbend SignWorks ($25,026.61), ACME Sign ($27,830) and HiTech ($21,989). He noted Riverbend has installed signs in the county building and that the recommended sign includes a five-year warranty on lighting and remote content updates. Grafton also said PAWS will foot the bill as a fundraiser and that staff will finalize signage language (the county prefers “Animal Care & Control” rather than “Animal Shelter”) before committing to installation.
