Board approves entrance permit for Heinrich; Channelworth pier work underway

The Jackson County Board approved an existing residential entrance permit for Joel Heinrich on 69th Street in Southport Township, Section 10, after the county engineer reported the driveway has sufficient sight distance and does not require a culvert.
"Everything checks up from our end, so we recommend approval," the engineer said. Staff recorded that the southwest approach has approximately 180 feet of sight distance from the intersection with Caves Road and recommended issuing an E-911 address for the property. The board moved to approve the permit and the motion carried.
The county engineer also provided a construction update on the Channelworth project: pile driving for the north pier was completed last week, the concrete footing for the pier was poured yesterday and the crew will next set forms and a rebar cage for the pier column. The engineer said the county is coordinating to borrow variable message boards from Dubuque County to notify motorists ahead of planned work and that a concrete overlay for affected routes is expected to start in June, weather permitting.
