Zoning staff outline public handouts, permit updates and data processing ordinance

Zoning department staff told the Jackson County Board of Supervisors they are creating public handouts and frequently asked questions to help applicants better prepare under the county's new zoning ordinance.
"My goal with that is to help people come in better prepared from the start," the zoning representative said. Staff also reported updates to the online permit system to make it more user-friendly, a draft conditional use permit template awaiting review before going live, and forthcoming updates to the zoning commission permit and member terms. The representative added the department is also working on a separate data processing ordinance to align with broader code updates.
Board members discussed coordination with public health and noted that some system improvements will be iterative as new situations arise. The department said some adjustments are already implemented and further changes will follow as staff encounters cases that require clarification.
