The Whitingham Board of Civil Authority voted July 8 to hold a special meeting on July 22, 2026, to consider an appeal filed by VTel Wireless. Board members discussed whether the appellant intended to bypass the local process and proceed directly to the State. The meeting was scheduled to allow the board to receive additional guidance about the proper procedure before taking a final action.
At the July 8 meeting the board also authorized Town Clerk Rachel Littlehale to gather information about the appeals process and report back with recommendations. Terry Morse moved to authorize the clerk to collect that guidance; Susan Johnson seconded the motion, and “all were in favor, and the motion carried.” The board noted it may formally deny the request at the July 22 special meeting if state guidance indicates the appeal should not proceed locally.
The special meeting was placed on the calendar to ensure the board had a formal, recorded opportunity to address the VTel Wireless appeal after clarifying procedural questions. No final disposition on the appeal was recorded at the July 8 meeting; the board set July 22 as the next procedural step.
