The Soap Lake City Council opened a public hearing on the proposed 2025 budget at 5:57 p.m. on Oct. 16. Jeff Balantine, the presenter on behalf of city staff, reviewed hearing dates, the schedule for final budget review and acceptance, revenue projections, and ad valorem (property tax) considerations affecting the draft budget.
During public comment, resident Nels Borg of 202 Lakeshore Drive asked whether the solid waste fund required adjustments under the proposed plan. The hearing closed at 6:25 p.m. The council will consider Balantine’s revenue projections and property tax implications in follow-up budget deliberations prior to adoption.
