Commission hears IT licensing options and approves short-term jail cooling fix recommendation

IT staff recommended the county accept the vendor's first license option for the county information management system (SIMS): $1,000 per month with unlimited mobile user licenses and 1 terabyte of cloud storage beginning Oct. 1. Clay Phillips said the tech team was familiar with SIMS and staff recommended Option 1 rather than a phased option at $1,050 per month with restricted mobile users.
Separately, Captain Philip Bernard presented quotes to cool the jail’s control room where computers and monitors have overheated equipment. Bernard said he had two quotes for the HVAC unit (Allen Services $11,900; P & M Mechanical $15,090) and that the recommended installation, electrical and roof work would total about $16,265. Bernard and staff recommended a budget amendment to use fund 1 16, which staff said has available balances to cover building HVAC repairs.
Commissioners said they would consider a budget amendment and place the request on the Tuesday agenda for a motion and vote.
