Matt Bogaer, a representative of New England Donor Services, told attendees that "Massachusetts right now has about 48 percent of people who come into the RMV say yes to organ donation" and said the national goal is at least 50 percent. He also cited a federal survey, saying it shows that "90 percent of people support organ donation."
Bogaer explained New England Donor Services is the federally designated organ procurement organization for New England and works with the RMV, the Department of Public Health and hospitals to identify and recover organs and tissues. He asked Brockton residents to register at mass.gov/organ donor and described volunteer outreach and multilingual materials to address community misconceptions.
