Organizers and speakers framed the proclamation as part of a collaborative outreach effort with New England Donor Services, the Registry of Motor Vehicles and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health to raise registration rates. Matt Bogaer of New England Donor Services told the audience Massachusetts has about a 48 percent registration rate at the RMV and said the statewide goal is at least 50 percent. The mayor and presenters repeatedly highlighted that ‘‘one donor can save up to 8 lives’’ and urged people to register online at mass.gov/organ donor or when they visit the RMV.
