Commissioners pressed for assurances that the replacement trucks would match existing specifications and not slow procurement processes. Phillips noted the offer is attractive because it delivers modern, warranted vehicles without the usual new‑vehicle lead times, but he emphasized that “we’ve got to make sure the specs are the same as what we currently have.”
Staff said the dealer would hold trucks if staff tells them “pending approval Tuesday,” but commissioners requested the commitment in writing before making a formal recommendation. The item will appear on Tuesday’s agenda for possible action.
