Resident questions how agricultural districts are renewed, says owners were not notified

During public comment, William Christopher Daley identified himself as the applicant and asked the committee to explain how Agricultural and Forestal Districts were being extended. Daley told the committee he had been told the districts had a 10-year term and questioned why the county appeared to treat renewals as automatic when the ordinance sets review procedures. "How does that not indicate that these districts end at the end of that term?" Daley asked.
Daley said the apparent extension without individual notice was already harming efforts to sell a house on the property: "...you're making this gentleman jump through 6 months worth of these meetings before granting this when you could just use the ordinance," he said. The chair and staff acknowledged the concern and said they would review the record. The staff noted the portion of the ordinance covering review procedures sets review dates and said, as read during the meeting, nonaction by the board effectively sets the next review date rather than automatically terminating the district. The committee did not reach a final determination on Daley's claim during the meeting.
