The Accomack County Board of Zoning Appeals approved SUSE00071-2026, allowing a single-family dwelling on parcels in the general business zone, subject to eight staff-recommended conditions.
Staff noted the property has utilities and is not located in a flood zone or RPA; staff concluded no adverse impacts were anticipated because other residential structures exist nearby and the proposed dwelling meets zoning requirements. Applicant Jonathan Mudd said he was consolidating two lots and moving an existing house; "I bought it as two lots... I wanted to move the house and join the lots," Mudd said.
The board approved the special-use permit with the eight conditions recommended by staff, including requirements to apply for building permits, comply with VDOT and health-department rules, and an expiration provision if the use has not commenced two years after issuance.
