The South Cle Elum Town Council voted May 5 to waive late fees for two property owners after Clerk Luanne reported mailed payments were returned and a Postmaster attributed the problem to the postal service. Allenbaugh moved to waive the fees; Sandretto seconded and the motion passed by majority vote.
Luanne told the council both property owners had a history of on-time payments and she presented return-envelope evidence showing one payment had been routed to Chillicothe, Illinois and returned. The council approved the waiver after the clerk recommended the accommodation; the action was recorded during the clerk's report.
