Owner with medical hardship asks for time; board gives 30 days for plan on condemned home

Robert Marsh, property maintenance inspector, presented the condemned property at 1841 North 6th Street and described severe internal hoarding, unstable roof framing, active extension cords to the meter and conditions that justified condemnation. Marsh told the board the city performed a warrant inspection and found interior conditions inaccessible in many places.
Owner Ignacio Badillo said he has been trying to comply, has provided some estimates and a plan of action, and described medical and financial hardship after losing a leg in 2024. "I don't wanna I don't wanna lose the house," Badillo told the board, and said family members and local roofers had offered to help if materials could be procured.
The board voted to follow staff recommendation and gave the owner 30 days to submit a complete plan of action and cost estimates; if the plan is sufficient, staff will work with the owner on permits and inspections.
