South Cle Elum council authorizes mayor to sign townwide water main contract

The South Cle Elum Town Council on April 7 authorized Mayor DeVere to sign the contract documents for the Townwide Water Main Replacement Project, advancing the long-planned infrastructure work toward construction.
Town Attorney Jeff Slothower told the council he had reviewed the construction contract and said "it is good to sign." Superintendent Matt said a preconstruction meeting will be held at Town Hall on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at 1:00 p.m., and Fury Site Works has indicated readiness to start work as soon as possible. The council passed the authorization on a motion by Councilmember McGuire, seconded by Sandretto, by majority vote.
The authorization follows prior project planning and places the town one procedural step closer to breaking ground; the town also noted the preconstruction meeting will be available virtually for stakeholders. The council did not set a formal construction start date during the meeting.
