The commission recommended approval of Z2026-25, a request from property owner Caitlin Shaw to rezone about 1.21 acres at E. South 11th and Oldham Lane from residential single-family to general commercial. Planner Clarissa explained staff found the request consistent with the comprehensive plan and the Land Development Code and reported no notices in opposition from the 200-foot mailing area.
Owner Caitlin Shaw said she bought the parcel intending to build a cosmetology school but has listed it for sale because she has outgrown her current space; she asked the commission to permit commercial uses to help market the lot. Commissioners said general commercial at the intersection made sense and a motion to recommend approval carried unanimously. The item will go to City Council for the formal hearings and final vote.
