Fire and sheriff's staff report volunteer, gear and drought concerns

Fire Chief Colton reported the department has nine volunteers, completed the monthly truck inspection, and placed new SCBAs on the apparatus. He said the department is pursuing an interlocal agreement with the Department of Natural Resources to access surplus gear because they need a RIT bag, and that Cle Elum’s medic unit is moving forward to be placed in the town bay.
Chief Deputy Ben Kokjer of the Sheriff’s Department advised the town it is most likely going to be a drought year and urged residents to complete firewise preparations sooner rather than later. Kokjer also reported the Sheriff’s Department is now fully staffed.
