City Secretary Shauna Atkinson briefed the council on a proposed change to the solicitation permit ordinance, asking for the processing allowance to be extended from 5 to 10 business days because the municipality's background-check vendor changed and some applications with extended records now take longer to clear.
Atkinson said most applications still clear instantly or within 24 hours, but that an additional five business days would allow staff time to complete checks for applicants with longer records. The council voted to approve the ordinance change.
