"The perfect location for a hotel in the corporate limits of the town suggests a room number considered is from 60 to 70 rooms," Thomas said.
Thomas said the owner is seeking inclusion of those uses on the AC zoning permitted‑use table so future developers would not be deterred by zoning barriers. Casey Chapman of CaseCo LLC, who spoke immediately after, urged the council to simplify overlay districts and make permitted uses clearer so property owners and developers can readily understand allowable projects. Both speakers framed the change as an economic development opportunity tied to bringing more visitors and events to western Loudoun.
Councilors did not take a final action on the request during the meeting; they noted the topic relates to the ongoing zoning rewrite and SUP processes and encouraged the speaker and staff to pursue the matter in that context.
