Big Stone County sets 2026 ditch assessments, including two $25,000 charges

The Big Stone County Board adopted Resolution 2025-03 on Jan. 6, 2026, which establishes the 2026 county ditch assessments. The resolution assigns assessments of $25,000 to Ditch 2 and Ditch 13; $7,000 to Ditch 16; $2,000 to Ditch 21; $1,000 to Ditches 4 and 19; and $500 to Ditches 14, 15 and 18. Commissioner Klages moved adoption and Commissioner Athey seconded; the resolution passed unanimously.
Auditor‑Treasurer Knutson presented the assessment schedule to the Board during the meeting. The adopted assessments will be used to bill benefiting properties per county procedures and will be reflected on the county’s financial records for 2026.
