Following an executive session to discuss land items, the Johns Creek City Council on Aug. 19 considered Resolution 24‑8‑19 regarding acquisition of access for Macedonia Cemetery. Council member Coughlin moved to substitute the condemnation approach in the resolution with a voluntary purchase and sale agreement; the motion was seconded and passed on a voice vote.
"I would like to substitute the current resolution by condemnation and substitute a voluntary purchase and sale agreement in lieu of that condemnation," Council member Coughlin said when presenting the amendment. The council took the action after the executive‑session discussion of two land items and recorded the motion as adopted. The resolution will proceed using a voluntary acquisition approach rather than condemnation, and staff will follow up on the purchase process.
