At the meeting’s opening, staff offered a city update recounting recent events. "We had Juneteenth, which was hot... it was, like, 1,600 people because it was really hot," staff said, noting the heat index reached about 110 that day.
Staff also reported Independence Day was well-attended: "We had roughly... we had roughly 10,000 people come out to that one, and that was just the in the park tally," and said attendance outside the park was higher than ever. Committee members used the figures to frame planning needs for future events, including site selection, parking management, and communications.
