Assistant Administrator and Finance Director Ryan Adkison presented a proposed county telematics policy and a three‑year agreement with Verizon Connect, following Board direction on May 12 to move forward with a vehicle telematics program. Adkison said the policy follows existing county policy frameworks and that "the annual cost is anticipated to be approximately $50,000" to be paid from individual department budgets once fully implemented; telematics costs will be included in the 2027 draft budget.
Commissioner Kelly Herzet moved to approve the telematics policy and the three‑year Verizon Connect agreement; Commissioner Darren Jackson seconded and the motion carried 5-0. Staff said partial 2026 implementation costs would be mostly offset by wireless carrier savings and that departments will absorb recurring costs through their budgets.
