Butler County approves veterinary contracts to support Sheriff’s K9s and animal care

Butler County Administrator Will Johnson told the Butler County Board of Commissioners that the county needs defined veterinary contracts to support the Sheriff’s Office and K9 team because the county does not operate an animal shelter. Johnson presented agreements with Mikaela Sundgren, D.V.M. (El Dorado Animal Clinic), Brian Hodes, D.V.M. (Hodes Veterinary Health Center) and Countryaid Veterinary Services, P.A. to provide non‑exclusive county animal shelter and veterinary services across the county.
Commissioner Dan Woydziak moved to approve the agreements; Commissioner Marc Murphy seconded and the motion carried 5-0. The contracts set a scope of services and fee schedules for clinics located in El Dorado, Rose Hill and the Remington area to allow deputies to access veterinary care as needed. The Board record shows the motion passed with a 5-0 vote and no amendments were recorded.
