Planning commission schedules Aug. 12 public hearing on withdrawal of 1.4-acre split from Greenbush AFD

Syngin Jones, identified as the county's code enforcement officer for zoning, presented an application to remove part of Tax Parcel 77-8-132 (approximately 198 acres at 21220 Adams Road in Greenbush) from the Greenbush Agricultural and Forestal District. Jones said the applicant (identified in the package as Mr. Daley) wishes to split off a 1.4-acre section that would be sold separately while the larger farm would remain in agricultural production. "For us, staff recommends approval of the subdivision given the approval of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the variance, and the low impact of a 1.4 acre piece from a 198 acre parcel," Jones told commissioners.
Commission discussion noted the parcel has no road frontage for the split (the owner received a variance from the BZA) and that the section proposed for removal is not in a resource-protection area. Committee member speaker 2 moved to set a public hearing on the AFD withdrawal as presented and amended the motion to hold the hearing on August 12; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. Jones said staff will follow the normal AFD-withdrawal process (AFD committee public hearing, then recommendation to the Board of Supervisors) and recommended the commission hold its required hearing next month.
The commission did not make a final land-use decision at this meeting; the August public hearing will allow public testimony and a formal recommendation to the Board of Supervisors afterward.
